What Are Probiotics?

Probiotics are live microorganisms that can benefit your digestive health when taken in adequate amounts.†4 The human body hosts approximately 100 trillion microorganisms, also known as the flora of an individual’s microbiome. When the flora in your digestive tract is imbalanced, it can lead to digestive irregularities and make you more susceptible to illness. Probiotics help keep your digestive system balanced, which can lead to greater overall health.

What Makes Florastor® Unique?

As the only probiotic supplement with S. boulardii lyo CNCM I-745, Florastor offers unique advantages you won’t find with other probiotics.

Florastor increases the production of three digestive enzymes: lactase, maltase, and sucrase. When Florastor is present, there is a 77% increase in lactase, 75% increase in maltase, and 82% increase in sucrase. An increase in these digestive enzymes helps break down dietary sugars, which improves the absorption of water and nutrients in your small intestine.†5
Short-chain fatty acids are produced when healthy bacteria break down indigestible carbs and fibers in the colon. More short-chain fatty acids reflect healthier activity of bacteria in the colon. Florastor improves levels of fecal butyrate—the short-chain fatty acid preferred by colon cells for energy—by 60%. Healthy colon cells help your body stay hydrated by re-absorbing water in the colon.†6
Over 70% of your immune system is located in your digestive tract. Florastor not only helps strengthen your digestive balance for increased immune support, but it also stimulates the production of Immunoglobulin A (IgA), the primary antibody in your digestive tract that defends against infections.†2
Antibiotics kill both the good and bad bacteria in your digestive tract. Because Florastor is a yeast-based probiotic, NOT a bacterial probiotic, it is genetically resistant to all antibiotics and continues to work during antibiotic use.†3
Florastor is easy to take wherever you go because it doesn’t require refrigeration. Our patented freeze-drying process gives Florastor a three-year shelf life and ensures the delivery of live cells to your digestive tract. Perfect for traveling professionals and parents with active lifestyles.

The History of Florastor®

While traveling in Indochina in the early 1920’s, Henri Boulard, a French microbiologist, noticed the locals drinking a special tea—made from lychee and mangosteen—to help with digestion. Fascinated by the healing properties of these two tropical fruits, Boulard conducted further research and discovered the active ingredient to be what he later called Saccharomyces boulardii.

S. boulardii was first introduced to the market in 1953 by the French pharmaceutical company Biocodex. Since then, it has become available in over 100 countries making it the #1 probiotic worldwide.†9

Florastor is the only probiotic in North America to contain S. boulardii lyo CNCM I- 745. With over 60 years of use and research, Florastor is the trusted probiotic of choice by families around the world.
